Referrers are Not Necessarily your Competitors

competitionChrisL_AKSometimes companies get a little crazy about who links to their stuff, but linking is really the power of the web and without it, we’d just have boring text on a page.  When someone links to your site, they’re a referrer in analytics terms – they’re referring people to your site.  Sometimes this is done as a way of using your content or services for their own benefit, but if people have to get to your site to see that content or use the service, the referrer is sending people to your site.  That’s a good thing right?

Protecting Your Domain Name Ideas

protectFlyheatherflyYou  have this great idea for a site and you start researching possible domain names.  When you go to buy one a few days later, you find that it’s already been purchased.  You find this strange because you’ve only told a few people about the name.  Now you have to either try to buy the domain name back or think of a new one.  Very frustrating.  If this has happened to you or you’re thinking about purchasing a domain name in the future, you should take steps to protect your ideas.
