Is a Sense of Humor Good for Business?

It’s April 1st – April Fools Day.  If you work in an office, keep an eye out for pranks.  And if you browse the web, you’ll need to take everything with a huge grain of salt today.  Many tech businesses (notably Google) jump right into the April Fools fun with sometimes subtle jokes across their online properties.  While all in good fun, is having a sense of humor also good for business?

Google’s Other Identity Problem

Google has an identity problem – a few actually.  One problem is how they handle identity on their network – through the use of gmail addresses – each of which has it’s own identity or profile with no way to consolidate.  But I covered that last week.  This week’s identity problem is Google’s strategy and how customers view them.

QR Codes – Adding Complexity or Providing Benefits?

You may have seen these funny little boxes around – possibly in a magazine or in a store window.  They’re called QR Codes (Quick Response Codes) and they allow the encoding of information.  For practical terms, if you were to scan one of these codes with a code reader from your phone, they’d could take you to a website where you could get more information.  But in order to work, they require you to install software on your phone (and to have your phone or other device with you).  So, is this making it easier or more difficult for someone to get more information?
