Morning Edition – Mar 13, 2009

Yesterday wasn’t a very good day… but today is Friday the 13th — good luck or bad?

We post links to stories about how to use the web effectively throughout the day on Twitter or Delicious.  Also, if you have a post or link you think is worth sharing, please let us know!

How does Danah Boyd continue to say such smart things? Nice to read her thoughts on social media & web 2.0 given what’s been on my mind recently.

I’m big on that idea of “reshaping publics”… something Clay Shirky has talked about a lot, too. Whereas the default privacy setting of life used to be “private”, now it seems to be “public”. How curious!

I think it would be nice if we had a bit more control over our “public” privacy setting. It would be nice to know how companies use our data, what data they have, and a way to either edit it or delete it. Also, private lives are mixing much more with professional ones as it is difficult to keep them separate online.

Thanks for your comment (and for reading), Josh!
