WordStream Adds Free Keyword Grouper & Keyword Niche Finder to SEO PPC Tools

wordstreamWordStream, a provider of keyword tools for PPC (pay-per-click) and SEO (search engine optimization), released two new free keyword tools today:  Keyword Grouper & Keyword Niche Finder.  WordStream also provides more advanced, paid keyword tools and PPC management tools, in addition to their Free Keyword tool.  Let’s take a look at the two new tools…

Keyword Grouper

One of the tasks that’s key to PPC & SEO optimization is grouping keywords in the most efficient way possible.  Keyword Grouper let’s you drop a group of keywords (max of 10,000) with their associated frequency (optional) and spits out a list of the top 10 suggested niches with keywords listed by relative frequency in each.

For example, for the keywords: internet strategy, web strategy, internet marketing, online marketing, Keyword Grouper provides a list of 10 suggested niches, each with keywords ranked by relative frequency:

grouperresultsYou can remove suggested niches and a new one will show up (up to 10).  If you want to filter keywords, you can try a trial version of WordStream’s paid tool.  If you set up a free account, you’ll be able to email yourself the results.  Obviously this is a tool pulled from their paid suite of tools, but it’s a pretty nice free service (which they hope will lead you to try out the paid tool).

Keyword Niche Finder

Keyword Niche Finder helps you identify the most profitable verticals for any keyword.  For example, for the keyword, internet strategy, it returned the top 10 suggested niches, each of which I can drill into to see keywords ordered by keyword frequency.  Removing suggested niches pulls more suggestions into the list (I didn’t see a way to get all the suggestions otherwise).

nicheresultsVery similar results and features between the Grouper and Niche Finder.  The results are decent in quality – as I stated in my review of the free keyword tool, I think that there are some results that aren’t super useful/relevant, but it’s hard to complain too much about a free tool.  Even in a paid tool, it’s probably pretty easy to throw them out or ignore them.

Keyword Grouper & Keyword Niche Finder used together with the Free Keyword Tool, provide a very nice suite of free keyword tools.

Have you tried these tools?  What do you think?
