Top Internet Strategy, Marketing & Technology Links – Feb 18, 2010

Confused about the new Facebook home page? While it should be pretty easy to use, there are a number of things that have changed that you should be aware of. Whether it’s a new location for the logout link, or hidden friend lists, many users still haven’t completely figured out the way the new Facebook home page works. In this guide we explain how to use the new home page and have a complete video tutorial included at the end. – The New Facebook Home Page Guide That You Must Read (All Facebook)

Facebook may change their home page to try to improve it – or it may be to open up additional revenue streams.  Whatever the case, they do a horrible job of explaining where they hid everything (and if you can’t find something, that’s not really good design, in my opinion, but I digress).  All Facebook has a nice little guide to where things went – well worth the read.

I had some free time this weekend, so instead of going to party, I decided to look into Google Buzz. It’s not every day that a major social site is launched. I wanted to find a way to find my friends quickly, and gain many followers. – How I Became the Robert Scoble of Buzz (ReadWriteWeb)

Since Buzz was just launched, it’s a new service for everyone (except Google employees).  White snow.  Untouched land.  A clean slate.  Perfect bait for a huge land grab (not that you have to grab followers now).  I had about 80 followers the first day (on my personal account – grr).  In any case, Google Buzz is an opportunity to increase your brand recognition and connect with a new set of potential customers and colleagues.

The increase in the overall ecommerce sector (made up of e-retail, online brokerage, and online travel industries) is driven by the rebounding online brokerage industry, which climbed 5 percent to 78 after it lost 6 percent last year during a crashing stock market. Both e-retail (1% to 83) and Internet travel (3% to 77) also improved over last year.

“It’s no surprise that satisfaction with online brokerages is linked to the stock market. When the market crashes, customers aren’t happy. When it recovers, they feel better about their experience,” said Claes Fornell, ACSI founder, professor at the University of Michigan.). – Netflix Scores High In Customer Satisfaction (WebProNews)

This article is more about trends than Netflix.  It’s good to see customer satisfaction improve for eCommerce sites and as the article says, when the markets are in recession, customers are not happy (with anyone).  Last quarter’s eCommerce numbers were not good, so hopefully this will mark a rebound for this quarter.

We post links to stories about how to use the web for business throughout the day on Twitter, Google Reader Shared or Delicious. Also, if you have a post or link you think is worth sharing, please let us know!
