The layout of Facebook’s standard fan page is not likely to thrill your customers. So why not try a customized one instead? It’s pretty easy: just download the Facebook app “Static FBML” and upload your desired content. – THow To Build A Customized Facebook Page For Your Business (Business Insider)

With all the time consumers are spending on Facebook  and all the traffic from there to websites, it’s not surprising that people are interested in how to improve their business Facebook presence (and pages).  You’ve probably seen those business fan pages which look almost like a regular website and figured they had a 100 developers custom programming for them (which they probably do).  But, it turns out that anyone with some html knowledge can create a pretty good looking page – worth looking at the BI article for step-by-step how-to.

If you’ve ever wondered about the flow of your mouse around your computer screen, a free downloadable application, called “mouse pointer track,” can help you follow these esoteric movements and turn them into a fascinating blur between art and information. – Viewing the Mouse Tracks You Leave Behind (NYTimes)

Eye tracking has long been used to study the usability of an application or website.  Some eye tracking software for websites is actually using mouse tracks since it turns out you often move a mouse close to where you’re looking.  If you wonder how people are using your application or website, you can download this free software and track your own mouse movements and ask people to use your computer to do the same.  You may be surprised at what people focus on.

Today Salesforce.com has announced the private beta for Chatter, which will be rolling out to 100 companies now before officially launching later this year. I had a chance to talk to Salesforce.com and get a demonstration of how Chatter works. For businesses looking for a collaboration solution, this could be a big winner. – Salesforce Rolls Out a Facebook for Businesses (Mashable)

Announced back in November, Chatter is finally being rolled out in a private beta.  While called Facebook for business, that’s based more on the layout and functionality than any real use as a social network.  Chatter is supposed to use Facebook-like features in order to provide more meaningful and useful collaboration within a company.  I still think there’s a missed opportunity to integrate true social networking into Salesforce for CRM purposes.
