Blogs are the most powerful marketing tool you can use to attract leads and new customers, as well as increase visibility in your marketplace. But what makes one blog successful and another mediocre? The majority of “so-so” blogs lack one or more of four important elements…  In this article I will introduce the CODA system and how it can driven traffic and engagement with your readers. – How to Keep Readers Coming Back to Your Blog (Social Media Examiner)

It seems like a lot of people think there’s some magic wand that if you write a blog traffic magically appears – within weeks.  The first myth is the amount of time that it takes to gain traction on a blog.  While some experienced bloggers in a well defined niche may be able to get something going in 6 months or so, for most blogs it takes at least a year of writing consistently – not necessarily everyday, but on a schedule or so many times a week (not whenever you feel like it – which does work for some more well-known people and companies). Social Media Examiner has some good tips on what else you can do to improve your blog.

I have to say I was not surprised to read that according to a survey by Mzinga and Babson Executive Education, that less than one in five marketers measured their ROI from their social media marketing efforts in 2009. – Measuring Your Social Media Efforts (Social Media Optimization)

Getting too caught up in metrics can overwhelm just about anyone.  But ignoring them completely may be foolish.  Metrics give you important information about what’s working and what’s not.  They allow you to improve your social media strategy to be more efficient at reaching your goals.  You do have a goal, right?

LinkedIn, however, stands apart from the crowd. The roots of popular sites like YouTube and Facebook are founded on the entertainment side of things. But since its creation, LinkedIn has been geared toward the professional business crowd. – 5 Ways to Weave LinkedIn Into Your Marketing Mix (Online Marketing Blog)

With so much coverage of Facebook and Twitter, LinkedIn is often overlooked.  Since LinkedIn is for business, it can be a very valuable marketing tool, especially for B2B companies.
