StumbleUpon – The Hidden Gem of Traffic Generation

Looking for new ways to promote your blog or other content? Have you tried StumbleUpon? Unlike other content sharing sites, where your content only really goes to those who are following you, StumbleUpon also shares content out randomly. These random stumbles give you a chance of reaching a much larger audience than you might otherwise.  And as your post grows in popularity, the more likely it is to be seen both friends of people who stumble it as well as randomly.

Highest Referring Site

When I look at the sites that are sending traffic to my blog, StumbleUpon is by far the highest. While many people may come to the site randomly and then leave (so you’ll have a low average time on site), if the content is good, they’re likely to share it with their own stumblers or look at other content (which you’ll see in pages per visit).

Share & Share alike

Just like other social networking sites, StumbleUpon is not just a promotion engine. If you connect with and share content of other people, you’re more likely to build a network.  (Social media is about building relationships!)  So, if you start using StumbleUpon, share content from other people as well as your own.  Connect with and follow other people on StumbleUpon.

Have you tried using StumbleUpon? What do you think?

Business + Technical Product Management

My sweet spot is at the intersection between technology and business. I love to manage and develop products, market them, and deep dive into technical issues when needed. Leveraging strategic and creative thinking to problem solving is when I thrive. I have developed and marketed products for a variety of industries and companies, including manufacturing, eCommerce, retail, software, publishing, media, law, accounting, medical, construction, & marketing.
