Names are so important to people, businesses and products. How did you come up with your business name? Posting over at Insights Group today, I discuss some things to consider when choosing a business or product name.
When you were born (or probably before), your parents considered many different names for you. They thought about how the names flowed together, what meaning they had, and how they could be abused on the playground. There may even be some family names or people in the family they wanted to name you after. Names are very important. In the case of a person’s name, it (usually) sticks with them forever. Choosing the right web hosting company can be difficult for a non-tech person. There are so many price points, so many options, and so many features to choose from, most of which probably don’t make sense to the average person. I’ve met many people who are either paying too much or too little for a web hosting service that meets their needs. While cheap plans are attractive, they’re not always the best choice. Here’s some things to look for:
Sometimes companies get a little crazy about who links to their stuff, but linking is really the power of the web and without it, we’d just have boring text on a page. When someone links to your site, they’re a referrer in analytics terms – they’re referring people to your site. Sometimes this is done as a way of using your content or services for their own benefit, but if people have to get to your site to see that content or use the service, the referrer is sending people to your site. That’s a good thing right?
