If you have a product or service, and you’ve done a good job with customer service, your customers are probably happy with their purchase. No product or service is perfect, though. There’s always room for improvement. Your customers – the ones who you’re selling to – have ideas and thoughts on what you can do to improve. All you have to do is ask.
You may have an audience of happy customers who never really give you any feedback. You blog, tweet, facebook, etc. and ask for comments, and hardly ever get any response. This doesn’t mean that your customers don’t care. Most people are very passive in their use of the Internet and social media. They like to read and receive information, but rarely take the initiative to give any information or opinions back.
Instead of asking for comments in a general and public way, try asking individual customers (or influencers or people in your network). You may find that you get much better feedback. Most people are very willing to give their opinion, but you need to make it as easy as possible for them to do so. Asking someone directly (even via email or a direct message) is more likely to get a response than posting a general request for input. As an added bonus, you’ll make a more direct connection with that individual – and then they’ll be more likely to do business with you and recommend you to their colleagues and friends.
