This is one of the most common questions small business owners and new bloggers ask. Blogging is uncharted territory. What should I write about? How often do I need to write? How long should a blog post be? Good questions all, but I’m focusing on the last one in this post.  – How Long Should a Blog Post Be? (Small Business Search Marketing)

I agree with Matt – blog posts should be as short or long as they need to be.  Maybe that’s not a straight enough answer for some, but a blog post should be long enough to explain whatever it is you’re posting about.  You shouldn’t get overly concerned about how long it needs to be for SEO – remember, you’re writing for people (who buy your products) not for computers.  I do think that longer posts should be broken into sections with subheadings and some pictures, which makes them easier to read and scan for information.

Review: Twitalyzer for Twitter statistics

Twitalyzer goes beyond most websites providing statistics on your Twitter usage, displaying 15 key metrics on an easy-to-use dashboard.  Other sites which provide Twitter statistics usually focus on followers (and follower growth), updates and followees.  While it may be nice to see the growth of your following in a graph, it’s much more useful to know how engaged your audience is and how influential you are.  Twitalyzer gives you a snapshot based on the past 7 days of activity, with trending information available for the last 14, 30, 60, and 90 days (and all time). Best of all, it’s free (at least for now).

With all the time consumers are spending on Facebook  and all the traffic from there to websites, it’s not surprising that people are interested in how to improve their business Facebook presence (and pages).  You’ve probably seen those business fan pages which look almost like a regular website and figured they had a 100 developers custom programming for them (which they probably do).  But, it turns out that anyone with some html knowledge can create a pretty good looking page – worth looking at the BI article for step-by-step how-to.
