5 Tips for Reaching Your Audience Online

While the Internet and social media have made it easier for everyone to have a voice, there are also a lot more voices talking, which can make it difficult to connect with the right people online.  Here are some tips for reaching the right people…

  1. Define Your Audience – Narrowly define exactly who it is you’re trying to reach.  It can help to think in terms of job titles.  Be as specific as you can.
  2. Define Your Benefits – Understanding what benefits your product or service offers to your potential customers will help you fine tune not only your marketing, but also your content and can help you look in the right places to connect.
  3. Listen – Find out what concerns and interests your potential customers have about your industry.  Target your content to help fill their needs.
  4. Seek – Take a look at industry organizations and publications for places to connect with your audience.  Also check out other websites and blogs offering content to your audience.
  5. Engage – People buy from other people. Social Media gives you the opportunity to humanize your brand and actually have conversations with your audience.  Talk.  Converse. (Remember it’s a conversation, not a speech).

What did I miss?  How do you connect with your audience online?

Business + Technical Product Management

My sweet spot is at the intersection between technology and business. I love to manage and develop products, market them, and deep dive into technical issues when needed. Leveraging strategic and creative thinking to problem solving is when I thrive. I have developed and marketed products for a variety of industries and companies, including manufacturing, eCommerce, retail, software, publishing, media, law, accounting, medical, construction, & marketing.
