Figuring out what to write can be a major roadblock for any writer. Add the stresses of running a business on top of trying to write and blogging can seem unsurmountable. Just by listening and doing a little research, you can find a treasure trove of blogging topics. Here are some ways to brainstorm topics for your blog…
- Customer Questions – What questions do your customers have? What information are they interested in (that you can provide? Where are they having problems?
- Listen – Listen to what types of questions and topics are mentioned at networking events or conferences. How can you help and add to the conversation?
- Ask Questions – If you’re not sure what type of information your audience would like to know, ask them. Use social media or ask people in person (great way to get information about how you improve your services too).
- Read – A lot of my blog topics come from ideas generated by reading — books, other blogs, websites, etc.
If you’re worried about coming up with a new topic every time you sit down to blog, don’t. Keep a running list of blog ideas, ideally in a note pad or task list that you always have access to. Writing a post can be stressful enough, by brainstorming topics ahead of time, you’ll always have a list of ideas you can tap when you’re not sure what to write.
That’s one excuse off the list.
