What is Social Media Club Detroit?
Social Media Club Detroit is a gathering of people, from all backgrounds, industries, and levels of experience, who are interested in social media. Anyone who is in the metro-Detroit area who wants to learn more about social media should join us. Here’s why…
Help Us Help You
We’re just in the beginning stages of forming the club and our first meeting was last night. The idea is to provide a useful experience to as many people as possible, so please send us any feedback you may have about topics you’d like to see covered, discussions you’d like to have, or anything social media that you’d like to talk about.
Stretch Your Brain Muscles
At our meeting last night, Adrian Pittman from Module presented “Sling-Shooting the Brand Experience in the Digital Domain”, which talked about some more advanced topics such as branding strategies and audience influence. While some of the concepts may have been a bit complex for some, Adrian gave a concrete example of how Whole Foods is implementing social media to help their brand. It’s good to hear what other people are doing to think about things in a different light – it helps get the brain juices flowing.
Meet New Local People (psst, this is networking)
You never know when knowing someone will help you out (sometimes you don’t realize that it did). SMCD is a great opportunity to meet other people in the Detroit area who are interested in social media.
Share Ideas
Much of social media is very new. There is no one way to use it to reach business objectives. SMCD gives you the opportunity to hear what other people are doing, share your own ideas, discuss new ideas and get feedback.
It’s Fun
Meetings are relaxed and informal. The idea is to have a great time, learn something, meet new people and get Brandon Chesnutt to sing karoke while Dave Murray plays the bongos.
